Oops, I bought a 1998 Bentley Brooklands R Mulliner Jack Barclay Edition. There were only 100 Brooklands R Mulliners made with each one being numbered. In that hundred the last 9 cars were specially commissioned for the Jack Barclay dealership

- The Bentley Brooklands R Mulliner is standard a Long wheelbase edition.
- The number of Bentleys Brooklands R Mulliner was strictly limited to 100 specially numbered editions. All cars are RHD. And all cars have a unique number on the dashboard.
- The nine examples of the Jack Barclay Dealer Limited Edition are the nine last examples produced of the Brooklands R Mulliner model range.

The Brooklands R Mulliner examples have a chassis number between 66802 and 66901. The chassis numbers of the Jack Barclay Edition are the last nine numbers of this range.

- Finished in Amethyst paintwork, interior in Sandstone hide
- Aerial to centre of rear roof
- Ruched centre flutes to all seats
- Chrome radiator shell and chrome mesh to grille
- Oval exhaust pipe shortened
- Painted bumpers stainless finishers, bright inserts, colour coded lips
- Front wing vents, Weybridge style
- Steering wheel black perforated hide to handgrips with colour coded steering wheel top and bottom areas
- Black perforated hide gear lever with chrome top
- Drilled pedals
- Delete Volt meter
- Cargo nets to seat backs
- Interior badge to radio flap
- No Brooklands R badge to LHS boot

The car I have bought is chassis number 66901 which was the last of the Jack Barclay Edition cars and it is numbered 98 of 100. I've no idea how/why there are two more cars numbers 99 and 100 as the Jack Barclay cars were supposed to be the last of the run.

The car will be delivered to me this week and I'll update the post when it arrives. In the meantime here are some pics I have of the car

The rouche looks like a 100yo scrotum but other than that, fantastic. Love the Amethyst paint.

That’s beautiful. Colour scheme is top notch.
Never driven one, or been driven in one, but I’ve sat in them a few times - the noise the door makes and the utter serenity when you’re in there is next level.
A proper motorcar.

A very expensive optional upgrade: "Scrotum of the Pharoah Leather".

What a machine it is.

These look better and better as time goes on. So much classier than the latest luxury offerings with coloured lights and widescreen displays.

Stunning, these Bentley's are really starting to appeal.

The dash and instrumentation is exquisite and by 1998 the industry had worked how to pack an airbag into a modestly size compartment so the steering wheel doesn't have that inflated balloon look of the early 90's. What a thing to smoke around in.

How much are these editions? Did you get any change from £20k?

Thanks for all the kind replies.

If the stars align and everything goes to plan the car will arrive some time on Wednesday morning. Insurance sorted out today and only another 2 sleepless nights

@_Rodders_ Yes the Amethyst paint is an awesome colour, it pops when the sun shines and I'm looking forward to getting it detailed

@biggbn Been here for a while now, both Volvos are in the readers Cars pages

Transporter driver sent me some pics yesterday when he collected the car

Someone getting his phone out to take a picture. It's not every day you see Bentley Brooklands R Mulliner Jack Barclay Edition

Beautiful. And a reminder to luxury car manufacturers of what luxury car interiors should look like.

I wonder if a ZF 8 speed conversion is feasible.

That is gorgeous and I very nearly bid on it. Very reasonable money for a special car!

@lukeharding

I thought I was going to bag it for a great price but that room bidder didn't stop when I wanted him to banghead
