Has anybody had a (minor) damaged front bumper repaired or is it a case or replacement?

The front bumper is made of PUR which basically doesn’t melt so is very difficult to repair. I replaced mine.

Not good news then. Insurance anyway but I was hoping. Car hire bods have been on to me already, told them didn't want one or need one. Would be interesting to know what they would have offered, when my TVR was being repaired they hired me a BMW M3.

I had a ding in one of our other cars, first time ever having to go through insurance and car off the road for a bit. I was totally shocked at the blatant profiteering and cowboy activity that goes on between claims companies, hire car companies and assessors. I came away with two thoughts mainly - fixing my car felt like the last priority behind every tom, dick and harry looking to skim money out of the process, and no wonder that car insurance is so high.

Sounds like a new bumper for you, probably best.

@L1OFF, a small "silver lining" is the holes for the huge licence plate plinth don't come on the new bumper. If you feel like mounting your plate in a more aesethically pleasing way, now is the time.

That’s what one would-be repairer planned to do after an incident with a suicidal hare. Ended up with a new bumper.

That's good to know, thanks.
