Where to stop overnight along route Napoleon

Looking at doing route Napoleon as part of our trip along the Cote D'azur this July.

I found this route online :

And we'll be coming from Monaco so probably another 40-50 minutes or so, so looking for some recommendations for somewhere to stop along the route, around half way ish. Like a nice hotel with secure parking, if anyone can recommend anything?

Can't help regarding hotels but I would recommend following the D900 between Digne and Gap as the Route Napoleon is very mundane between those areas. I stayed at Hotel des Trois Massifs just south of Grenoble when I did this route but that is probably too far north for what you are looking for.

Castellane is a nice little town en-route, nice bars and restaurants, interesting hill to walk up and it’s the gateway to the spectacular Gorges du Verdon loop.
