I'm very excited to be shortly starting a new role working on some significant charger installs at multiple locations. I'm an electrical engineer by training though I haven't done much for a while and never been involved with electrical vehicle charging. There's a lot of information on the internet of course and Google is my friend but I wondered if there are any specific resources about the technology used that you clever people know about. We have some good sources here but I'm looking to read around the subject a little.

"Inside the Machine" by David Twohig had a couple of interesting pages about all the challenges they faced with charging on the Zoe.

Far from the main part of the book, but it gave me a lot more understanding of how complicated it can be (and why you sometimes get errors).

It's also a good book generally for anyone who likes cars.

Thanks for the vote of confidence rofl The design work will mostly be done by other people. I have a lot of experience managing engineering projects at scale and installation teams just not specifically around chargers.

Thanks - it looks like a book I wish I had written. I will get it and enjoy the other bits too. My son is about to get rid of his Zoe so it might be bad timing!

Head over to speakev.com and read up in the chargers/installation sub-forums.

I was only pulling your leg, but can't help with the original question, I once changed the plug on a toaster. Good luck!

The manufacturers themselves have pretty good technical training. You should be able to access it if you are installing them.

It can get pretty complex with how different systems work and understanding what is to be expected or not, and all manufacturers work slightly differently.

What kind of kit is it? e.g. ABB, Alpitronic, Kempower
