Installing glass buttons - tips please
Discussion
It is easier to pull the whole lower console out, no special tools needed, but the upper console and the gear surround need to be removed first.
It can be done by pulling the console away and not removing it entirely but it is very fiddly. Each buttton has two steel sprung tabs that need to be pushed in to remove the old button, these can snap off quite easily but that doesn't mstter if you don't plan to reuse or resell your old buttons. The new buttons very easily push in from the. front.

I had glass lower ones fitted by my local AM MD, albeit several years ago. There are some tutorial videos on YouTube with instructions on how to remove the ski slope and lower panel. Once removed it’s a straightforward swap as they just clip in, but some care is required. They can’t be removed from the front hence the need to remove some trim. Regarding the seat tilt switches, I subsequently bought two glass ones a couple of years later with the plan being I’d fit those two myself. However, from what I read the only way to remove the old ones is to smash them with a hammer in situ within the seat, and then pick out the pieces. Didn’t really fancy doing that, so they are still in a box somewhere in the garage! BRM.
