Last night the wife was 200 yards from the house and the car started to make a noise which resembled a loud high pitched hoover/ siren. The car went into limp mode. I plugged in my OBD reader and a Low Turbo Pressure error code was present. Checked oil and coolant and both where good, so I started the car and the noise is defiantly the turbo.

The car is sitting on the drive now and I wont drive it. Google the issue and there are a couple of videos with the same issue on YouTube which point to the turbo needing replacing. I'd take this as I thought the engine had given up the ghost.

My question is, what should I replace it with? Genuine OEM (Expensive) or an off the shelf replacement? I only plan to keep the car for another 6 months max.

Any recommendations for a manufacturer away from OEM would also be good.

Many thanks

Dean

If your keeping it 6 months then fit the cheap one, if you intend to keep it longer then fit good quality aftermarket turbo.

Don’t forget to include all the gaskets and oil feed lines and remove the intercooler or at the very least check it for oil contamination
