French fuel prices
Discussion
I don't know if typical but last month I had driven from Rotterdam to Dunkirk and whilst trying to get to the Lidl in the port town the traffic was at a standstill because of queues at the petrol station situated right on a roundabout.
Nearly had to give up on getting cheap wine
I'll second that fuel is fuggin expensive in France, Belgium and Holland

Official French government website with just about all prices.
Also usually pretty much up to date - e.g. Diesel at Super-U in Arnage as I write this EUR2.089 = £1.80 (again as I write this according to xe.com) which is a few pennies better than I can find near me at the mo.

Very helpful chaps, so another question....where is the nearest UK supermarket nearest the tunnel, first time using it so not sure of things that area
Tesco https://maps.app.goo.gl/L8LkzeHsABYdxgsg7However we always stop at Stop24 just before the tunnel

I’ve always found that Tesco to be expensive, captive market for tunnel travellers.
You can go to this website - I use the app but the site is good:

You may find it cheaper a bit further away.

Only used STOP24 in Kent near when ran low on way in old car. Very dear and only put a bit in so digital mile range gauge didn't move up.
Full tank from home gets me to Le Mans via Calais or other ports but by then fairly low after 300 miles or so. So have stopped a few times before Le Mans at the Super U in the country at Sainte-Jamme-Sur-Sarthe. Come off A28 and take old road through D338 road through Beamont Sur Sarthe (and its a 5 min detour off D338). So breaks journey before Le Mans traffic and can also get some lunch for the day at fairly quite supermarket.

There is a Carrefour station at Cite de Europe just after the Chunnel .
Don’t use autoroute. stations unless you are mad! They cost 20-30 p more than supermarkets.
If you avoid motorways, then generally all towns have at least one supermarket type thing, Intermarche , superU are commonplace. Usually have a self serve section which makes paying easier due to the irrational side they put the steering wheel on the continent.
Big Centre Commercial south of Rouen is quite easy to find - massive Carrefour supermarket and loads of other shops , includes a petrol station
If using autoroute, then just south of Alencon there is a E .Leclerc again with a service station. Also has a Marccies ( which doesn’t open till 9:00 am ) quite and easy off/on too the route
Been going to France on holiday for 30 odd years, so know most of the roads !

I always top up there - but then tiny fuel tank so driving on the to Eurotunnel brimmed means I only need 1 fuel stop between Calais and Le Mans!If heading from Channel Tunnel or Calais port the first Total station is fairly priced, avoid the Shell and Esso stations at the end of the A16 and first one on the A28. Silly prices a couple of weeks ago. Good news is that if you exit at Jcn 5 of the A28( first exit after the Translay services about 85 miles from Tunnel) there is a Super U station 50 yards from the exit, with a new Lidl opposite ( excellent for French wines) and a Macdonalds if you are so inclined !
