I’m looking at getting a Taycan, around 3 years old, CT or ST. I have a list of preferred options but of course it’s not always possible to get everything with a used car.

There seem to be a fair few around at that age with very low mileage (<10k) and occasionally a higher number of users (one I saw, at an OPC, 2023, had about 7k miles and 3 owners).

I’m aware that there’s a bit of a question mark over reliability, from some quarters. That’s not putting me off in itself, but I’m wondering whether the cars with this sort of mileage/ownership history might be ones which have spent far too long in the workshop and/or been moved on more than once due to being troublesome?

I’ll probably be back with more questions, but in the meantime if anyone has a view on the above I’d appreciate it.

I suspect it's more likely that Porsche registered the car for at least one of the owners.

Though could be someone who'd had issues/didn't get on with EVs.

If the cars you're looking at are in the OPC network, I'd ask them about the history - repairs will have been done in the Porsche network in all likelihood. You may get some flannel about GDPR...just walk if you're not comfy.

No prob if you whack on the 15 year Porsche extended warranty. However the range on these is notably poor especially among older ones and that will only worsen. A mate of mine struggles to get over 170miles in winter, is not uncommon.

Yes I’d get the warranty but then I don’t want to be without it for prolonged periods.

Thanks re the range thing, I’m in an EV currently with probably nearer 300 mile range, 250 on the motorway realistically but I know the older Taycans are not as good. I don’t do long journeys regularly but I’d like to be able to get 200 fairly reliably. One of the options on my Must Have list is the Performance Battery which does increase it a bit.

^ they usually give you a nice loaner worst case, if you also run Porsche Assist.

I get 180ish in winter in my 22 GTS (that has 42k miles on it).

210-220 in summer.

It has the worst wheels on it for range. And is driven without thought to economy.

You can have the warranty up to 15yrs like all Porsche but the battery warranty is only for 7yrs.

Ehh.. not quite true. 8 years factory cover. After that battery covered for faults up to age 15 if extend warranty (not mileage/age related degradation but faulty cells covered).

The battery life is not worse with these though is it, it’s just starting at a lower starting point compared to newer models and other EVs?
