I bet most of us think, “That looks a lot of fun,” but then also go on to think, “But think of the expense, I’d only use it once and I’d be really annoying to other people.”
Same goes for quad bikes on the road.
Some people don’t have the second bit of the internal conversation.

And why are they so noisy? That seems completely unnecessary.

Genuine LOL’s….

You do know this is a car forum and lots and lots of cars are “so noisy”.

Are those wonderful V8’s, V10’s and V12’s “completely unnecessary too?

They don't normally exercise where people are trying to relax though, they're used on roads which are noisy already.

And endlessly go up and down the same bit of road for hours and hours.

Farmers are ok. The quad is normally filthy and has a collie sat on the back. They get a pass. Other grown men on quads just look silly. They don't corner (on tarmac) properly and you end up sat in traffic as you can't filter like a motorbike, although you are still sat out in the elements. I suspect, as with trikes, it's because the rider hasn't got a motorbike licence, but still wants to look like part of the "scene".

One guy in particular, used to drink in the same pub.

The sort that:

Shrouds his house, car and predictable white van with England flags every tournament

Can't talk, has to shout. All the time

  • **** oik is best way to describe him. Fat, bald, annoying ****
Won half a mil on a scratchcard a few years ago.

First thing he bought? New caravan (surprise surprise) next thing......a jet ski.

Off road, definitely. I have done it a few times and it was hysterical fun. Not sure about on road though, as the ones I have seen always teeter round corners, as you can't just get the arse out like you can off road.

Any time me and friends have been abroad we almost always book a jet ski outing and have a great laugh for a few hours

It clearly has not occurred to most killjoy posters on here that those of us that have a quad bike or two have usually got a jet-ski or two, a motorbike or two, a few noisy cars, several Gopeds, a petrol strimmer or two, a chainsaw or three, a couple of go carts etc etc. In fact anything with an engine, especially a lovely old 2 stroke.
Bring on the noise and the smoke. It’s a life style thing, you wouldn’t understand.

Ooooo, I will forgive anything if it has a 2 stroke ! That smell takes me back to my misspent youth of over tuned bikes laugh

Poppycock!!

The lack of self awareness is utterly astounding. Don't all motorsports circuits have noise restrictions? That a number of cars straight from the factory struggle to make. A screaming V12 or V10 will travel for kilometres and you're trying to tell me that it doesn't annoy anyone? I do like a noisy car but I am aware not everyone does.

Not really sure it would be deemed as stalking when he had to shout it to everyone that walked into the oub.

Quad bikes on the road i can forgive, as they are generally only a danger to themselves and they bugger off up the road in fairly short order.

Jet skis, on the other hand, are an abomination as they just go round and round in circles a stone's throw off the beach for hours at a time. They never go anywhere, so the monotonous drone they create is just constant.

I never scream anywhere. If there's any Saturday night screaming exhaust noise it's usually from bikes, and the noisiest car in my road is a VW Golf which the young owner has modded. That gets a bit annoying at times.

So what we conclude is that out views are formed from individual circumstances.

People who behave like that with noisy cars are knobs too. I don't take my V8 and drive up and down beaches revving the engine!

Anyway my original point was not that jetskis and microlights should be banned, but that the racket is unnecessary and they should be quieter. No one thinks the lawnmower noise of a microlight is good surely, and by making it up in the air it is heard over a large area.
