We had an issue with the drain being blocked so pulled the Fridge Freezer out for look. I haven't ever chosen to pay any attention to what the rear of a Fridge Freezer normally looks like. From anyone that is in the know is the pipe that comes out of the compressor normally like this or does it suggest we have a leak? It's working fine, keeping temperature etc.

Likely just condensate dripping from somewhere.

If it was an actual leak it wouldn't look much like that and it wouldn't be working.

The joint to the compressor might have had flux on it helping it rot.

? Nope - It's been pushed in it's slot for the last 4.5 years. I'm guessing then the back doesn't normally looks so clean?

On ours, a side-by-side fridge freezer, some of the pipes get a layer of frost on them when the compressor is running. I wiped the green stuff off and put a bit of Vaseline where the green stuff had been. Don't know if it helped, haven't looked since.

Timely thread. We returned from holiday on Sunday to find our fridge/freezer had stopped cooling at some point last week and everything inside was ruined and very smelly. I had a look at the back of ours to see if I could see anything wrong and the brass coloured thing was the only thing that looks a bit off. Is the black just sealant or is it kaput?

We've got an appliance engineer coming tomorrow so fingers crossed whatever is that is wrong can be fixed!
