Thatcham rating for 2006 Vantage 4.3?
Discussion
'Needed for insurance.' What nonsense.
I have never ever been asked for such information.
The Thatcham research organisation is backed and funded by the insurance industry.
Why therefore would the insurers need to start asking customers, about information compiled by Thatcham?
Try Aviva Direct for an insurance quotation.
My own experience is that they must quite like Vantages. The cheapest premium (reduced last year) of all my cars, apart from the classics.
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. My insurer, who covers another car of mine and is underwritten by Aviva, has a question on the quote form about what security the 4.3 has. On the dropdown menu there are several options, including Thatcham 1 and Thatcham 2. What I'm trying to do is establish what the car in question has so I can answer the question correctly and avoid jeopardising the validity of my cover. I was asked the same question by another company that insures my daily, but it was easier to find the info for that one.
I found a PDF of the owner's manual online but even that doesn't specify, so thank you for this.
Googling tells me it's Thatcham 1 or Thatcham 2, the AI response depending on how I frame the question, and its citations don't lead to any useful sources. I shouldn't be surprised.
And the make/model list on the Thatcham website doesn't include any Aston Martins that are Thatcham 1 or 2 approved, only including Astons in the separate tracker listing.

I get my quotes by phone and if asked this question say 'factory fitted', which seems to satisfy them.
Would the build sheet of your car tell you the answer? How about calling AM? There must be a way to find out... serial number on a key fob or something like that?
My “ earliest “ build sheet was for a 2013 SP10 but the alarm is just mentioned as alarm. Would the build sheet of your car tell you the answer? How about calling AM? There must be a way to find out... serial number on a key fob or something like that?
