I love P1s and have owned a couple when first launched. Always lovely to see them come up for sale but I’m not a fan of the after market steering wheel, gear lever and above all, the rear light clusters. All can be rectified, so good luck with the sale smile

Totally agree with the above. Looks like a nice car aside from the steering wheel cover, gearknob, seatbelt pad, and rear lights - all of which coulld be easily remedied to be fair. Better to buy a car from someone with poor taste than no mechanical sympathy.

One of the things that makes PistonHeads Auctions unique is the open discussion around each listing and we really value the input and experience the community brings.

To keep things useful for all potential buyers, we just ask that comments stay focused on facts, direct questions, or personal experience that helps others build a clear picture of the car.

For those who want to dig deeper, every listing includes a detailed write-up, extensive photos, and the option to Arrange a Viewing. All designed to give maximum transparency and confidence.

This space works best when comments stay focused on specifics, questions, or relevant insight, not speculation or assumption.

Any idea what is the cause of the oil leak?

Had a new (reconditioned) engine in 2018, which was then reconditioned again 23 months later, then ever since you've had an oil leak at every mot?

Do you know if a closed deck block was used when you had the new engine?

Any pics of the steering wheel without the cover? Does it just need retrimming due to age?

Do you have any of the original parts that have been swapped out (rear lights, gear nob, etc.)?

Cheers!!

I have no idea what the cause of the oil leak is, never followed it up as it was so slight and of no real issue to me as I was beginning to scale down the mileage by not using her as much for work. I do not know if a closed deck block was used when the engine was rebuilt.
The steering wheel is in good condition, the only reason I put the cover on (which seems to have caused quite a stir) was for personal preference because I like a thicker grip on the wheel as it feels quite thin without one and also to help the leather remain in the good condition that it has. I have since taken it off anyhow as I apparently I have 'poor taste!'
I have the original gear knob which is shown in the photo section and it was to come with the car anyway, although I shall probably put it back on the gearstick as people are making an issue of it.
The rear lights were stored in my fathers unit but when he passed a while ago, somehow they were thrown out with a lot of his other stuff unfortunately, otherwise they would have been placed in the boot as part of the sale alongside the part that the BOV has replaced.

Just to clarify, this engine is the original, not a replacement, which has been rebuilt twice. After a period of time it became evident that there was excessive oil consumption so I had the issue corrected with the second rebuild.
