Believe it or not, Dire Straits at Woburn Abbey a few years back now. We has to put up some awful support acts (Lyle Lovitch?), before DS came on stage just as the sun went down, and the temperature plummeted to just above freezing. It had been a lovely day, so we weren't kitted out for a cold 'un. Still, we thought, they'll have us rockin' around - did they hell. Bored to tears, couldn't wait to get back on the M1 and be routed all around Luton (M1 closed) until we found the sanctuary of the M3. Now, for a good concert, go see Quo. Oh, and Rod Stewart at Wembley Stadium wasnt great. Not Rods fault, but the 2 second delay in the sound getting to the other end of the stadium, plus the fact we couldn't see the midget on stage cos we were too far away, meant we watched him on a giant screen, with the sound arriving 2 seconds after the corresponding pictures. Decided then that we'd never do another outdoor concert (made an exception for Bjorn Again at Romsey though!!)

Had the deep misfortune of having to watch Carter USM at Leicester Poly in 1987 or 1988.

Fortunately someone set the fire alarm off after about 20 minutes, so the pain was acute, but not prolonged.

It really pains me to say but Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Hyde Park last summer. Weather was bad (but dry when the gig started) - no older songs for fans who own more than the last 2 albums, dodgy sound quality etc etc. Mrs decided to have some kind of fit on the train home too, which was unprecidented and very unexpected (and scary) .

Probably one of my worst days anywhere, let alone worst gig!

The Enid in about 1982 in the Camberley Civic Hall. Some guy wearing a sheet wouldn't start the gig until everybody was sitting down on the floor (which took ages). Once everybody was sitting down they started playing. It was so bad that people started standing up just to make it all stop I've been to some bad concerts, but that was beyond bad.

Not me, but a mate went to see the Jesus & Mary Chain many years ago. Band turned up on stage (late) and kicked out 20 minutes worth of outrageously distorted wall-of-sound noise and then just buggered off.

David Bowie at Wembley Arena about 10 years ago. The dullest and most tuneless concert ever.

Im going to second Red Hot Chili Peppers in Hyde Park last year.

Spent extra money on gild circle tickets which afforded me a fantastic view but despite the expensive tickets we were treated to just 45 mins of performance. Which to say was poor is an understatement. For such a big band with so many albums under their belt is was very very disapointing.

I'll also add the Spin Doctors at Brixton many years ago during their "pocket full of kyptonite" "fame"
utter shite..........

Tangarine Dream at Aylesbury Poly (or whatever it was) in about 1975. Not the most dynamic of live bands. Think I fell asleep for a while.

Prodigy and Beastie Boys at Reading in either 97 or 98. Was expecting great things from them both, but the only highlight was them slagging each other off over the title of Smack My Bitch Up.
Other than that they were limp and boring.
Jimmy Eat World in Hamilton, ON a couple of years back were also piss dull. They might as well have just put a CD on.

Van Halen in Sheffield Arena around 1990. They were at least an hour late, came on wasted and proud of it, and sang the first line of a couple of songs, presumably hoping the crowd would fill in the blanks. Pathetic. Their support, Little Angels, were great.

Leonard Cohen at the Royal Albert Hall in 1992 or 1993. I'm a big fan but the format of the evening went as follows :-

LC comes on stage, does 3 songs and walks off

Interval

LC comes back on stage, does 2 more songs and walks off

End of Concert. Crowd cries 'Encore, Encore'

LC comes back on stage, does 1 more song and walks off

Crowd cries 'Encore, Encore'

LC comes back on stage, does 2 more songs and walks off

Crowd cries 'Encore, Encore'

LC comes back on stage, does 1 more song and walks off

Crowd cries 'Encore, Encore'

LC comes back on stage, does 2 more songs and walks off

Crowd cries 'Encore, Encore'

This goes on for 2 hours. Why he didn't just come out, belt out 20 songs and then bugger off is beyond me.

I have to say Oasis were pretty shit at Knebworth in 1996 as well. Basically came across like they just couldn't give a toss.

Venom. Couldn't play and the stage show was crap ... aside from the massive pyro that threatened to incinerate the band ... shame it didn't.
