Setup
Masterplug EV Charging Point
Monta App for the charging Point (must be used over the Tesla app)
Tesla Model 3 LR

So had this setup for the past 18 months or so and had a recent issue when I try to charge out of the schedule (which only happens around once a month)

I tell the Monta app to ignore the peak hours warning and the car starts charging however within 30 secs the app tells me that the Tesla has stopped the charge, you can then re-start the charge from the Tesla app (not the Monta app as is still connected to the car) however it repeatedly then stops and starts charging

I think a recent OTA Firmware update on the Tesla may be to blame

Any troubleshooting ideas?

I avoid installing any EV charger that uses the Monta app. Absolutely hateful and unreliable.

Only saw this reply right now, unfortunately that ship has sailed

However I think i've found the culprit, the Tesla had set a charging schedule (prob after a recent FW update) I removed it and it appears to be playing nice again, time will tell

I quite like Monta on the basis that it’s third party so if the charger manufacturer goes bust or makes the app obsolete, Monta should still work.

It did have a bug in scheduling a few weeks ago though, and the Masterplug was one of the EVC’s that Monta then sent a firmware update to that fixed it.

useful to know mate, did you have to ask support for the FW update or was it automatically pushed?

No it was sitting in the app and should have uploaded to the charger last week automatically. It will be in the log but as you know you can’t filter that and it will have thousands of ping records.
