Hunter road force balancing and mixed tyres across axles
Discussion
RRS went in for Hunter road force balancing today with 2 x brand new tyres on front axle and 2x 5 mm on rear.
On collecting the car they d moved both brand new tyres to the Drivers side and put both half worn on the passenger side.
After 20mins of arguing they moved them around to match across axles again but they guy wasn’t happy and refused to accept anything was wrong, stating my professional opinion is that it’s OK as is.
I get that the road force balancing tells them where to put each wheel assembly optimally and that it doesn t take into account tread depths or matching tread patterns - but surely the operator has to apply some common sense or am I over reacting? (Garage has a good reputation, which is why I went there).
