These have recently cropped up on the main road locally, they are accompanied by a new grid of black lines similar to the inductive loops you get at traffic light approaches in the carriageway on the same side of the road the camera array sits but not extending to the opposite side of the road.

Any idea what this lot is looking for ?

  • Multiple CCTV/security cameras
  • ANPR-style cameras (Automatic Number Plate Recognition)
  • Wireless communication antennas/radios
  • Possibly environmental or traffic sensors
The larger square-front camera at the top left is typical of traffic enforcement or ANPR systems used for:

  • vehicle counting
  • congestion monitoring
  • speed or lane enforcement
  • low-emission/clean-air zone monitoring
The smaller dome and bullet cameras provide wider-area visual coverage.

This kind of setup is commonly installed by:

  • local councils
  • highways agencies
  • smart city systems
  • private traffic management contractors

I just can t unsee the monkeys face though..
