Aloe Vera plant gone mad

Well I've been looking on tinternet to try and understand how much I can lop off the top of my aloe Vera plant.
There's lots of stuff out there but nothing definitive, so I humbly ask the PH collective if any of you learned people know?

I literally need to cut it in half to bring it back under control and within the confined of the pot it's in, this is because we've moved and don't have the room to allow it to continue growing as it is, so any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

As it sits on the window sill overhanging the sink.


And the extent to which it's outgrown the pot.


I was hoping to cut it just above the new growth which is inside the pot?

I've cut them to half height and they've been fine.

You've got at least five new plants there - the two on the left & it looks like there are three half way up. Search for "propagating aloe" & there's lots of guidance on how to split the pups off. What you do with the main plant is trickier as you don't prune them as such. Perhaps try & give it away & start again with your new colony? If you can't do that then it's possible that just cutting it down the ground level will trigger more pups to sprout.

I think I'll cut it right back to just inside the pot and see how it fairs, it's a shame as it's a really nice plant and very healthy, it's just too big now.
