Good evening all,

I recently returned from Spain where I did a track experience day in a Formula Renault. Loved it and came back wanting more! I don't feel it, but I'm knocking on 40 now, so maybe the itch is a midlife crisis...whatever.

Besides an annual trip with a mate to the Nürburgring, that's my calendar. Of late, I have been feeling that I am tempting fate going there in my daily. (Year by year this usually changes)

The decision was therefore made to buy a car just for track days and to really buy into it, see if I love it as much as I did in my early 20's. I still have photos of my last track car/daily back in 2009 here!

Anyway, I digress.

I have bought a little Clio 172 Cup, it's pretty much sorted.

I need to do a few things to make it my own, but I have got my first track day booked for 03 July 2026 at Castle Combe Circuit, the PH own event. IS ANYONE ELSE GOING?

The car might be known by some of you potentially, I have a photo of it from Brands here. (Not in my ownership, never been)

Would be good to meet some like minded people, not many of my mates are into cars to the same degree or have the inclination to do track days.

Cheers!
D

Hope you had a great day!!

I will be taking my RS on a track day at Brands (15 mins from me) in the not too distant future. I’ve not been for 3 or 4 years and I ran a Puma, then an A3. My recently purchased RS is modified for track so it would be rude not too

Get on some clio forums or FB groups... always a few clios and meganes on trackdays, so they are others out there.

Theres a group on Facebook called Track Time which is very active and covers all the U.K. I'm sure you would find some local track enthusiasts on there.

Cheers mate, judging by your name, I guess you're still an avid user of track days? What do you drive? Any tips for preparing? Was going to take a box of essential tools, zipties, tape, not sure what else!

Hi bud,

What a epic little car... dont see many silver cups...very rare infact!

I had a 172 cup (the usual blue) as my first proper track car. You will love it. Such a capable car and the fun you will have with it will leave you smiling ear to ear! Loved mine...i moved onto a Megane track car after clio... i still miss the clio!

Combe is my local circuit, drove my clio and meg around there loads. Great circuit for the clio.

I actually run a FB group - Renault Sport Wiltshire (lots are from all around the UK not just Wiltshire)... Lots of us do track days together and shows and meets all over the place. Maybe see you around!
