Due to ongoing air leak problems on the Russian side.

Watching, it seems its maybe a precaution.

If they bail, is it likely we will ever go back I wonder? How long will the station stay habitable without a crew keeping it going?

I would have thought it would be 2-3 months to get back there.

Sounds like the Russians are doing the repair, NASA crew are prepping the Dragon.

All over - but it seems the repairs were halted rather than completed.

That Russian side has had a lot of issues over the past number of years.

Mind you, the ISS is getting old and I’m not entirely convinced the Russians always kept up their maintenance over the decades.

Isn’t it due to be decommissioned in the 2-3 years anyway?

Maybe they’ll bring that schedule forward a bit if it’s a bit leaky (assuming that they can just close off the module in question for the time being)?

Quite possibly. The challenge for the US is that only the Chinese will have an operational Space Station in orbit and any commercial alternative is at least 2 years away (I think Vast might beat Voyager) and of course no immediate prospect of any humans on the Moon.

Thought I read that a moon colony is planned for 2032?

(No, I don t think it will happen either)

Edit - Moon base, not colony - https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/articles/c152yzpyw...
