Hi guys, selling my 997 coupe (S, manual, 06, 55k miles), where would you recommend?

Privately? Auction site? Sale or return at a Porsche specialist? Etc//

Any advice is very welcome, thanks,

There have been some horror stories regarding SOR so I would avoid that.

A bit more information would help, but I think Autotrader is hard to beat.

Thanks mate, it’s a clean, straight car, 2 previous owners, decent spec, no issues, full history, good tyres, recent service, uk spec, no mods, looks a bit plain in seal grey with the sport classic 19’ wheels but drives wonderfully.

SOR was my preferred on the basis I’d be a little nervous about a private bank transfer of £20k+…but yep have also heard horrors about SOR! So yes this is really why I’m after people’s opinions, thanks again,

What's the problem with a bank transfer? Once the money lands in your account, the scenarios in which you lose it are awfully narrow.

I think the risk in a private sale is mostly on the buying side with zero comeback etc. In this day and age, £20k via banking app is pretty straight forward.

If it's a nice car, I'd say a good advert on PH and AT, or a specialist forum, will net the best price..

Thanks pal, think you’re right, am being a bit precious about a higher value transfer!

The biggest problem selling privately will be concerns around ims and bore scoring, personally I’d get it pre inspected, then stick it on collecting cars.

Try selling on Motorway. When I was selling my 996.2 I didn’t have the time to deal with trying to sell privately to tyre-kickers, and got a higher value via Motorway than I was offered as a trade-in by my OPC, Porsche independent specialists, or WBAC.

What’s it worth? £25k or there ur thereabouts, right? Advertise it on AT, FB or eBay and take your time, field lots of enquiries and wait for your buyer.

Why let someone else sell it and you lose £5k in the process?

Just stick it in Autotrader.

Nothing to be afraid of. Just don’t let them drive it until it’s paid in full.

Thanks again guys, some great advice, I’m thinking Autotrader but I’ll get a bore scope inspection done at a well known Porsche specialist and include in the paperwork, cheers

Another option is to post on the Porsche section of a popular car forum asking how to sell a nice clean low mileage 997.1 and listing all the details, worth a try, after all it's free!
