Hi all

Is it worth setting up the Vodafone system on a 650s, given its age, or having a more modern system installed such as those from Global Telemetrics, which seems to have more features?

What sort of cost are the S5 Trackers from Global, installed?

Thanks

I had global telemetrics installed on a previous 720S. It was a requirement of insurance.
On the 650S, I ve had the Vodafone tracker disabled through the MDS. The built in batteries are now old and at the point of needing to be replaced. You ll know when it needs replacing due to random tracking fault message appearing on the dashboard. The cost of a more modern tracker installation is probably cheaper than having the original Vodafone tracker battery replaced (if it can be found, wherever it is hidden in the car)

The Global Telemetrics is far superior. It is app based and can remotely shut down the car if it is stolen. The app provides tracking, map and battery charge status.

This is last years subscription charges.

I’ve had both on different cars and Global Telemetrics is much better. You need to verify you are in the car via an app before you set off. if you forget you get a phone call so you know it works.

I initially used the VF one on my first 650 - until I discovered that the difference in premium for not having it was less than the annual subscription.
Not bothered since.

Same as Dave above the subs often outweigh the insurance saving

Thanks for all the replies. I may look at the Global Telemetrics system and see if they can disable the Vodafone one.
