Synthetic oil, change interval

Just wondering your opinions on how long to use fully synthetic engine oil before changing it?

Currently at 7k miles since last change and two years: not exactly golden coloured any more but only a little bit black.

Some idea of car, engine and use would help. Personally with anything low miles I always did a yearly oil & filter change.

I have an Audi with the V6 TDI engine.

I change the oil and filter every 5k miles which costs around £80 for everything (Opey online) - it takes around 7 litres so I have to buy 10 litres and then only 5 for the next change.

It's very cheap insurance and a complete no brainer IMV. I use a suction pump and can do an oil change on the drive in less than 15 minutes.
