Athens - it s a busy place

I was wrong when I said it was warm earlier. What I meant to have written was that jesus wept, but bugger me its sodding hot!

We are thinking of a city break, what time of year is best to visit and is 4/5 nights long enough?

I've just been looking at temperatures where I'm heading in France next week - 96º. Quite warm.

Last year was hot too and in fact too hot to do anything other than swim and then rush into the shade.

Was there briefly in July last year; it was 39c, with a wind like a hair dryer. The Leylandii trees in the park across the street had foliage you could crumble to dust. We spent a lot of time in the hotel's roof-top pool.

When you get to the museum, ask them if there's something missing. "... a bit of marble would make the place look really nice" sort of thing

We went in October half term a few years back. From memory low-mid 20s and fairly pleasant. Wasn't too busy either.

We did 4 nights and ticked off all the main things, could have easily filled another day.

Visited and worked in Athens, love the place.

4 or 5 days is dependent on what you want to do, the beaches are not the best but usable, some great fishing villages along the coast for a long fish lunch or dinner.

I always stay in Glyfada, a pleasant sort of upmarket seaside town with 24 hour life, great as I like coffee and cake after a night out lol.

Bazooka all night cabaret is a good night for a group, you wont understand anything unless you understand Greek,but a fun night nonetheless.

Went there a couple of years ago in October (1st 2 weeks) temps low to mid 20's and we were there for 13 days, had a really good time with loads to see making use of the excellent public transport. Stayed at The Social Hotel (Radisson) which is a short walk from Syntagma.

Was there 10 days ago- it was warm but not overly so. Stayed near the Central Market and walked everywhere.
Back there this week for a couple of days (after a visit to Naxos) but on the coast (Apollon Beach)this time.

We were there last month, great temps and certainly not that busy around the Plaka.
