Temporary Reduction in HGV vehicle tax

Cautionary tale in regard to this.
We had a V11 tax reminder arrive in the post for a 1st July renewal and this was processed straight away as it always is.
Two days later we get the same document, same reference number, same amount due but with a letter stapled to it telling us that there is a "temporary reduction" to £1.00 but ONLY if we pay on the 1st July and that if we have paid already there is no refund.
Just be careful that if you have an eligible vehicle you dont accidently pay the amount stated on the V11 as it could be that DVLA have omitted the letter telling you to wait until the 1st of the month and pay only the temporary £1 rate....
