So UK has seized a Russian oil tanker

So finally we've grown a pair and impounded one of Putins 'shadow fleet' tankers that have been taking the p'ss sailing through the channel to move his oil about despite sanctions saying he cannot

my question is what happens to all that lovely crude ? Spoils of war? get it pumped out to the local BP refinery to drop the price for UK citizens ?

I know there is a thread running but I have a specific question.the footage released shows a lovely kitted out bunch of marines carrying what I presume are the SIG sauer MCX.

But something caught my eye. A single fellow who was also kitted out seemed to be carrying an AK style rifle. Now I know this could be for a variety of reasons but I’m literally chuckling here thinking that it could be a Ukrainian or a bunch of over here for training and he got to tag along ?? This would piss Putin right off and if this is the case I bloody love it.

Feels like nothing more than a desperate political PR stunt by Keir Starmer.

The next few months will decide if this was a success, how many more will be seized? How long will we hold onto this tanker? What will happen to the oil? Will the captain go to prison?

If the oil is confiscated and the tanker destroyed, then job well done. I have a horrible feeling it will be handed back with all its oil in a few months time, and swept under the carpet like it never happened...

I know some Marine units have been allocated the new MCX (or L143A2 to be accurate ) but they don't look like them to me in the MOD released footage, to my eyes they all be appear to be using the L119A1/A2 CQB version, which would also be logical in that scenario of ship boarding and searching.
Can't see any AK style weapon in the MOD footage...?

I've got a Sig Sauer MCX but it's a semi auto air rifle. Didn't realise that they made a real version

I think he is referring to what appears to be a curved magazine, like an AK, which means a rimmed cartridge.

All the UK variations of M4 style carbine's/rifles have curved mag's and NATO ammo is not rimmed cartridge.

It's nothing more than an organised photo op stunt. The ship will be in its way by Wednesday at the latest.
