Out for a bimble about and coming towards me was a cyclist, pretty tight to the hedge. 2 lane road, white line down the middle so not a narrow job, motorbike then indicated and overtook the cuclist, going over the white line into my lane causing me to move over left.

First for me.

In summary, motorbike gives cyclist appropriate space whilst overtaking, oncoming driver panics and swerves left into space that was there to be used all the time.

Hold the front page for this.

Or, and I say this as a biker, selfish biker can't be arsed waiting till a safe legal overtake of cyclist is avalaible, crosses white line and causes other traffic to have to avoid him.

I must admit if I see a cyclist coming the other way with traffic behind them I always move over a bit cos I'm half expecting eejit car drivers to overtake cos " well there's room anyway" and force me off my line.

But totally agree in it ain't really news and happens a lot more than it should.

WHAT....

In summary.

"Appropriate space".....Highway code....leave at least 1.5 metres when overtaking cyclists at speeds of up to 30mph, and give them more space when overtaking at higher speeds.
Thats the first one for you. The road was 6M wide....... (Roads have to be a min of 5.5M to have a line down the middle).
ie 3M either side. 30 mph limit.

"Oncoming drive panics" I did?? Quite an imagination youve got there.

"Swerves to the left into space that was there to be used all the time!" I was in a car. What space? It was a 2 lane highway. 6M wide, 3M either side.

Think YOU need to read the Highway code matey.

Yep that seemed like a sensible, level-headed response to a fair point...

In a follow up to the earlier front page news.

Driver explodes in a hissy fit, because things didn’t go his way.

I’m sure every driver knows the dimensions of a road and the width requirements for a white central dividing line.
