Chaps/Ladies

What are the "must have" items from the 996 options list? I want to make sure my new steed will be relatively easy to resell when I move on. Metallic paint, obviously. Do most of them come with upgraded hi-fi or not?

They seem to fall into two categories... driver comfort or maximising the enjoyment of the drive.

Category one cars has full leather, PCM, Sat Nav, memory seats, shiny trim bits and hifi upgrades.

Category two have PSM, PASM, PSE, 18s and Litronics.

My own car is a bit of a blend. Its got PSM, 18s and litronics. It also has 6 CD holder, ali bits inside, full leather and memory seats.

Its exactly what I wanted.

PSM was the big money option, costing £6k. Resale, it probably adds £1k, not a lot more. With it, the car is stunning and almost fool proof and I would rate that as the single most desirable option. I would like PSE but doubt I will spend £2k on a pair of silencers.

You need PSE, they sound simply fantastic with it but a bit bland without.

you definately need for resale

18" alloys
clear lights (standard on 99 model cars onward)
soundpack (not quite as essential-this consists of 2 extra speakers in the doors and an amplifier)

Other stuff like

PSM
sunroof
elec seats is all desireable but non essential

Avoid green and red cars like the plague.
Savannah interiors are also less desireable (i had an ocean blue with savannah which is quite a popular combo but not in the world of pistonheads where only silver with black will do!)

Cheers.

Yes, colour options for me I think are going to be Arctic/Black or Black/Black. I'm not a big fan of the Savannah either, although I had a similar (but lighter) colour on my last car and it looked great.

The Bose sound upgrade is good, the Litronics are also very worthwhile-second hand anyway!.
