Le Mans 2027 by public transport?
Discussion
I'm thinking of returning to Le Mans in 2027 as I love the Hypercars, but tossing up between the cost of Silverstone vs the hassle of getting to Le Mans in 2027 (I've been to Monza, Imola and Spa over the last few seasons, but fancy a change and Fuji's a bit out of my budget).
I've not been since 2009, but was a regular from 1979 until then.
I used to visit with my (now late) father, but I don't really fancy driving down and kipping in the car, like we used to, so I'm thinking maybe using trains is the answer.
Has anyone been to Le Mans on the train? I know it's fairly easy to get there from Paris (and there via Eurostar), although I'm not too sure of the relative costs.
I've got some accomodation lined up in Le Mans and know I can get to the track via the tram and buses, so it's really the logisitics and cost of getting to Le Mans that I was wondering about.
Also, what's the view like if you just have an Enceinte General ticket these days? One of the reasons we stopped going was that it was getting so corporatised and many of the best viewing points had 'guest only' stands erected on them. Our final straw was Garage Rouge becoming 'Audi Only parking' and us being consigned to a car park near the Porsche Curves...
Any experiences? Tips, etc?
Thanks
M

In years where I don't have a mate or three to drive down with, I've done it on the train. It's dead easy and cheap, about an hour by TGV from Paris Montparnasse station, costing about thirty quid. I always take a Brompton folding bike and use that to get across Paris and from Gare du Mans to the circuit, but there are obviously public transport options for those connections.
Do be aware that this year, a train strike affected services. I'm not sure how badly, as I drove this year, but I'm sure someone will be along to recount their experience shortly.
Nothing wrong with not having a grandstand ticket - still loads of places where you can get a good view of the track, and more big screens than there used to be too. Just take a collapsible camping chair.
