I booked my Cayman GTs in for wheel alignment. It had been a while since it was done, and having just replaced the coffin arms and put 4 PS4s tyres on a couple of days ago, thought it a good idea. My car is on Porsche OEM 20 inch rims.

I have used the same independent company several times in the past, mostly on boxster/caymans and have also been very happy with the care and results.

After a few minutes, the fitter came in and told me they were unwilling to try and carry on as they were struggling to attach the 'targets' to the wheels as they couldn't get them to slip into the space between the rim and the tyre. (The targets are the panels that attach to the wheel with 4 'hooks' that the laser uses to carry out the alignment). They managed to get one front target attached, but they didn't want to try the rears as forcing them on or off could likely damage the paint or even the rim.

Looking at the wheel I could see exactly what he meant and I suppose I'm grateful that they didn't just tap them in with a mallet, Kwik Fit style. The anti kerbing rubber on the tyres is very pronounced. The equipment used is made by Pro-Align.

Has anyone else encountered this issue and how to circumvent it.
