Sorry if this has been asked before but I need a solid recommendation for portable aircon unit with window kit.
We have dormers in our bedrooms, little ones room was 35deg at night last time we had a heatwave.
I also work nights so I find it unbearable to sleep during the day.
Long term we will get something proper sorted but before the hot weather arrives this weekend I want to get something ordered!
Cheers

I bought one of these from AO at the last heatwave for OHs 32cubic m workroom. We tested it and it dropped the temp from 26c to 24c in about 10 mins and was notably fresher. It is rather noisy though and when needed our plan was to cool the room before she starts work then switch it off as quiet is needed.
It was about £225.
Unfortunately the weather turned cooler as we bought it so have yet to use it in anger.

You can buy silver blackout sheets that velcro in place in summer. It's surprising how much of a difference it makes. This kind of thing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silver-Blackout-Curtains/...
I mean you still need an aircon unit but I would get the curtains as well.

We already use those, but thank you anyway We have an AEG portable unit for use in the bedroom when it gets hot.
Can't remember what the rating is but I think it is around 12000 BTU.
Not sure what sort of windows you have, but this is what made our AC unit really effective:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132726549898?itmmeta=01...
No connection to the seller, just a satisfied customer.
Unless you have sash windows, the typical kits you get with the AC unit won't work!

Just came to add, a portable AC unit will be much more efficient with a window kit like aboveCan't remember what the rating is but I think it is around 12000 BTU.

The AC unit was a bit of a waste of time until we got the window kit!Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
