I'm taking the kids camping near the River Wey in Surrey this weekend. A few of weeks ago we went swimming nearby at Frenaham ponds. After a few hours splashing around the rangers came and put signs up saying there had been a sewage discharge locally. vomit

I am very paranoid after watching the "Dirty Business" documentary (its horrific, but recommend). Anyone know how to check the status of the river? The surfers against sewage app doesn't cover it.

There is a website that shows all the discharge points from sewers, have a look at that and see what you have upstream. Inevitable I can’t find it…..

After some searching I found this.

https://theriverstrust.org/sewage-map

Has a map with live discharges. Still a bit cautious though. How depressing.

Very little discharges into the ponds themselves. The little pond is not for swimming anyway.

Usually the BG algae puts you off.

Anyway drink coco cola, kills all that.

Regardless of the sewage discharge data, I would not be going into any UK river voluntarily.

There are so many cowboys pouring stuff down drains or just connecting new houses sewerage to surface water runs, rivers are no swimming pools.

Find a chalk stream near to its source and you might be ok, but it won't be deep enough to get above your knees.
