2018 GLC43, V6, 3 litre, petrol, twin turbo, AMG etc. 69000 miles. Engine warning light illuminated in yellow, diagnosis came back as low oil pressure and engine heat sensor faulty. The car has a full Merc. service history. Is oil pump failure a known fault with this engine or am I just unlucky.
Oil pump failure is rare on that V6.
At 69k, it’s almost certainly a faulty oil pressure sensor (very common) giving false readings, not the pump itself. The heat sensor is a separate glitch.
If the pump had really died, you'd have metal noises and a red light, not just a yellow one. Get a specialist to check actual pressure with a manual gauge bet it's fine. Just bad sensor luck.

You could well be right. However, I have had the car just under two months and as a seperate issue the rear drive was groaning (I suspected crown wheel and pinion), and I decided that maybe I had bought a wrongun. To that end I rejected the car and fortunately got my money back without issue. The issue now is what to replace it with.At 69k, it s almost certainly a faulty oil pressure sensor (very common) giving false readings, not the pump itself. The heat sensor is a separate glitch.

Must admit I was a bit confused, and began to think that I was clueless.
Think Gassmi meant to post that comment in the thread below
