LOVE IT WANT ONE !
Holden Showcar stuns Show
13 October 2005
Holden has stunned journalists and the motoring industry by unveiling a 2005 update of the iconic FJ Holden, the EFIJY.
The 480kw monster show car pays tribute to the 1953 FJ, but is far beyond that car in terms of power and sophistication. Whereas the 1953 model maxed out at 45kW of power, this 480kW reincarnation has a 6 litre Chevrolet Corvette engine and features a supercharger which gives it, according to Holden chairman and managing director Denny Mooney, about as much power as a V8 Supercar.
But Mooney said this car will not see production any time soon.
"This car is about pure fun. It's about emotion. It's about imagination," he said.
"It shows what designers can do when you let them loose."
The car appears on the Holden stand on the show in glittering purple paintwork and sleek, very long, 5.2m lines.
Holden also launched a new SUV, the S3X concept from HSV, which is likely to go into production in 2006.

My mistake, I read this in Businessweek.
"General Motors Corp. (GM ) Vice-Chairman Robert A. Lutz took the stage at the Geneva Auto Show on Mar. 2 and gleefully crowed about the "very fast start" of the new Opel Astra, the flagship of Adam Opel, GM's main operation in Europe. GM's stylish compact hasn't even arrived at dealerships, but already Opel has drummed up firm orders for 30,000 of the cars in two months."
Basically HSV/Holden is Vauxhall in Australia.
Don't get me started
Yes mate it is acutally a Vauxhall VXR Astra,( which would have started out as an Opel Astra) badged as a HSV. That's why they have called it a HSV/VXR, not a HSV/Astra.
As you may know HSV sell Monaro's to the UK As VXR's so now that HSV want to break into the smaller car market they have decided to use the VXR Astra to do this.
I will say it looks a very nice car.

Hats off to Holden on the EFIJY, it is one of the most outstanding show cars for a while. Will we ever see it runing or is it a fully engineered show car only.It would give Holden so much presence world wide if they could do some demostrations with it like the Maybach coupe before the Bathurst Race.
Looks like they addressed the problem of boot space with the Monaro and U.S. spec full tank!! It realy does showcase the capabilities of the Holden design team, and keeping it under wraps so well, they seem to be doing just a good job hiding the VE away from everyone at the moment.
Also the Harrop built LS2 engine looks like it may be built, and offered as a kit. So perhaps no LS7 just yet in Holden/H.S.V.

Ya that was fantastic ! did anyone else see Mick Doohan driving that awsome thing around the Mountain, 1000 pounds of Toque, sounded great !
Think the EFIJY was prob built on a Monaro platform hay, so could go into production fingers crossed !!
