Chaps,

Has anyone had any experience of colour of wheels versus resale value of car?

On the other wheel colour thread, I posted this pm that I've opted to get my Sport Classic's refurbed with black-chrome (actually more graphite than black, but not as light as seal grey) and a polished appearance rim.

But...

Is this going to knacker me if/when I go to sell the car on? ('98 996 C2 with GT3 Aero kit)...ie, immense sucking in of air thro' teeth "well sir, if the wheels were the original colour..."

Am I better off just sticking with standard silver?

Any thoughts or experience?

(PS ....I've got till about 10am tomorrow to stop the guys going ahead with Plan A!!)

Cheers
Spen

Spencer - this is why i picked up a second set on ebay of the same wheels.

Finding a set of GT3's off ebay is easy, there are sets on there all the time.

This way, when you sell the car, you simply offer the option of coloured wheels or standard wheels.

Either way, you can sell the second set on ebay for more or less what it cost you to buy a second set...

If you're so concerned just get them re-furb'd back to original - another couple of hundred quid!

I think wheels are very much a personal taste, certainly we wouldn`t kick the car providing they were in good condition. As ace says it isn`t the world to have them reverted to standard if you wanted.

As with all things, let your hair down a bit. You`re going to do your brains in depreciation on the car so enjoy it, it`s your car not the next guy`s - he hasn`t paid you yet so don`t worry too much what he thinks!!

If you`re thinking of letting that pony tailed dude from changing rooms loose on the car with a jigsaw and some MDF then that`s one thing, but given that 5 nuts and 3 minutes later wheels can be changed it`s no big deal.

We recently sold a C2S with massive Kahn alloys, I loved them, others hated them. A couple of people wanted them swapping for standard wheels which was fine as we`d get more for them 2nd hand. In the end the chap who bought the car thought they were great.

Think I will go for it; as you say Henry, live a little.

....now, just need those clear lamps to finish it off!
