Pothole?

After one too many potholes the front wheel finally gave in. Was able to get home but the tyre was just about as flat as a pancake as I pulled up.

There are loads of rear wheels on eBay but only one or two fronts for some reason, so I set about looking to see if it could be repaired.

Turns out there is a company in Kent called Motoliner who has been repairing wheels, forks and frames for years so I sent it off to them for repair.

And...they've been able to fix it despite the significant damage. I'll post a photo once its back in my hands.

To be honest, I would not trust repairing that with 4 wheels, definitely not on 2 wheels. I play safe on things like that. They only happen every 10 years or so, therefore I would not risk it.

I did a few hundred miles on my mate’s RSV recently and he’d had its rear wheel repaired there. I’d forgotten about that!

We took a trip to them to drop off his ‘Cat N, non structurally damaged’ 1290 SAS to have its frame straightened too. Only took them a week to turn it around.

There’s no guarantee a 2nd hand wheel hasn’t been repaired , motoliner i believe have been around for a long time , i had a couple of frames straightened by a guy with a jig in a long wheelbase van over 40yrs ago who went by the name of motoliner .hagon also repair wheels .

How was that a cat n with frame damage ?

I've used Motoliner before and they did a great job.

A repaired wheel will be weaker than a new one.

Motoliner will do a good straightening job but they don’t do paint which can be a pia.

I’ve also used candy wheels, Surrey Kent border who will straighten and paint.

They do paint. Not sure if it's a recent thing but repaired wheels come back looking brand new.

Now I would have liked some OEM forged wheels but they're as rare as hens teeth so repair it is.
