Just looking to change BB providers and many do give the standard 14 day cooling off period, but in some cases most of the time the service doesnt go live for 14 days so if it is crap, you are stuck with it for the minimum term.

Looking at one provider, they state..

"If you ask us to commence the services before the 14 day period has ended, your right to cancel ends, even if you have not started using the service provided."

Are they able to do this?

Or does the 14 day period only really cover you for changing your mind after ordering?

They can write any old toss in their Ts & Cs, it doesn't mean they're legal or enforceable.

You've always got 14 days to cool off and the provider should state if this is from order, invoice, activation date. Most decent providers should use activation date.

Ofcom also dictate that a consumer can exit a contract at any time without penalty if they're not getting the promised speeds.
