Whilst commendable, i think it was a bit irresponsible putting a m.o.p. in harms way if the guy they were chasing was armed with a gun.

Sounds like the m.o.p. volunteered (as hopefully most people would). Many more people might have been put in harms way if the suspected gunman had escaped - so the officer made the right call.

Have to say that was my first thought. Unfortunately I wouldn't doing the same as the van driver in the same position. Too much risk for absolutely no reward.

But the chances are you'd get done for speeding/have an accident/be investigated for wreckless driving. And the perp would get away anyway.

As this is PH, has anyone suggested that if plod spent more time on the streets pounding the beat rather that chasing hurty words online they might've been fit enough to catch the perp on foot?

On one of the videos the comments were quite amusing about him never being believed if not for the footage.
