So after a 4 year hiatus following R8 ownership, I've re-joined the sporty car world with a 570s coupe in napier green from 2018.
I'm slowly working my way through the manuals but in the meantime, if anyone has some helpful comments on the following, they'd be hugely appreciated. I'm located on the south coast near Portsmouth.
Thanks all

- Full Service History - It has been looked after McLaren all its life and I was hoping there would be a customer portal where an owner could view and download the FSH but I don't think that's possible. What's the best way to obtain a paper copy of the FSH?
- Alloy Repairs - there are a couple of very small (2mm) cracks on the super lightweight 10 spoke alloys. Any recommendations on how and where to get these repaired?
- Seat Repairs - the strap sewn in at the top of the standard sports seats, that feeds the seatbelt, has come away from the seat - the alcantara seat material has ripped slightly. Any recommendations on where to get that repaired?
- Number Plates - what's the best option for a front number plate, considering the front is curved and not suited to a traditional flat, rigid plates?
- Tyres - the tyres are OK but will need replacing. I won't be tracking her so what's the best option these days?
- Warranty - it has a McLaren warranty all its life
- Trip Computer - is there a way to reset the main trip computer. The previous owner suggested a trip to a dealer was needed?
- Faraday Cage - I've seen reports of some owners storing keys in a cage/box or protected wallet? Is this really needed, and if so, any product recommendations?
Thanks all
1) I suspect they won't give you the service history details - GDPR and all that............
3) Seat repairs - I'd use D Class (I haven't ever, but I would) - near Chertsey.
4) I think a lot of people use 4 dot - I find a normal plate sticks on fine
5) Michelin PS4s are still excellent (probably should be PS5 by now), although I think Continental are supposed to be very good too
6) Warranty is up to you - I think anything other than official is a waste of money but many of us run without one
7) Bit confused by that. Push the left lower stalk forward and you can choose what screen to show - choose the one that looks like a laptop. When you're in it, hold the button at the end of the stalk in for a few seconds - it will reset the trip. (I assume it's the same as my 650 anyway)
8) A lot of cars get stolen with keyless - so yes, I always keep my keys in a faraday pouch / box
3) Seat repairs - I'd use D Class (I haven't ever, but I would) - near Chertsey.

Can't help with much but for the seat repair would suggest Total Trim Solutions https://www.totaltrimsolutions.co.uk/gallery/
Near Newbury if not too far and fantastic work

4 dot for Number plates; that's where I went to £140 the set.
Reset the trip computer, you have to be moving, (at least in mine you do) then push the select button on the end of the stalk for about a second.
Tyres, I came from Pirelli, went to MPS4S and am likely to be going back to the newer P-Zeros. I find the Michelins lack feel on turn in.

Depends which McLaren dealer did all the servicing to get redacted copies of the service history. Phone them up and they might put you through to their central admin who can facilitate the request.
From memory Ascot use some centralised admin service who will send you a link to a secure portal where they upload redacted invoices for you. You’ll see what was done but not the cost nor (obviously) the owner details etc.
I always found McLaren main dealers extremely helpful and supportive.

All of the above but 3. I got quotes from D Class and A N Other for my drivers seat but got it sorted 200 yards from my work place and so far is fine for less than a third of their quoted price 3) Seat repairs - I'd use D Class (I haven't ever, but I would) - near Chertsey.

I'd recommend joining the Mclaren Owners Club, there are a few of us based on the South Coast near Portsmouth. I live near Whiteley.
With regards number plates four dots seem to be the go to but pricey for what they are. I have metal plates which have been creased in the middle and work well. Others have bent the plastic plates by using a little heat on them. An alternative, depending upon your risk appetite, is to get a vinyl plate made up although these aren't legal.

Thanks all for the comments and advice, lots of useful food for thought.
This is no garage queen so I intend to drive her regularly.
I've applied to join the MOC however as I only took ownership of the car on Saturday, I'm awaiting the V5 log book. I was a member of FMSC so may re-join them too although with the DU, you get 10% off servicing and repairs at McGuildford which is a little tempting.
The oil checking was something I'd forgotten about, so thanks for that. Any more regular maintenance tips are hugely welcome.
For those of you who had the seat belt strap repaired, what did it look like? This is mine currently.

Also this is the slight damage to the alloys. Apologies for my ignorance but I've only experienced diamond cut alloys on the R8 which didn't flake, so are these repairable with a local fix?

Thanks again for all your comments.

Check coolant periodically too (when it's cold, take the cap off and make sure the level is between the two markers). Coolant leaks are not unheard of in McLaren's - and for some reason, I don't think it will tell you if it gets low. Thanks for the advice Dave. I also managed to reset the trip computer too.
As I m awaiting my V5 with my name on it, I can t join the MOC at the moment, so in answer to your question “not at the moment”
Hopefully the V5 will arrive soon.

Let us know your thoughts on 570 ownership, I enjoyed mine. The 600LT is turning out to be quite a sharp tool, certainly a bit more "RS" equivalent as I see it over my previous 570.As I m awaiting my V5 with my name on it, I can t join the MOC at the moment, so in answer to your question not at the moment

Have you got used to the attention it brings yet, especially in such a colour?

I will do. I must confess the owner's manual is proving to be quite a read, and for a geek like me it's an enjoyable experience.Have you got used to the attention it brings yet, especially in such a colour?
The car is nothing like I've ever experienced, even though I've not pushed it yet (only read about the kick downs last night) but first impressions are it's bloody quick and the ride is quite firm, way firmer than the R8.
The attention is something I'm getting used to, especially the amount of people who want to film it but not been out much so time will tell. So far though, no negative reactions yet

It's something I'm not a fan of. I was filling up with petrol the other day and a car drove past with the passenger filming me doing so from the window.
First world problem of course, but it does occasionally affect which car I choose to use!
