Base 992 ECU tune
Discussion
I recently bought a base 992 Carrera (PDK) from an OPC and considering getting it chipped. I’m thinking of Lichfields remote tuning dongle which would take it to about 500 bhp.
I’m assuming this would invalidate the two year warranty that came with the car if the OPC were to find out? Can anyone advise if this is the case, how likely would they be to find out (would the standard service reveal this?) and using the Lichfield dongle is it possible to put back to standard and then re-install the tuned version each time it went in?
Has anyone done this?
Thanks for any help/advice.

The dealer would be able to detect it if you need to invoke the warranty for any engine components.
I would expect it’ll be the ammo to knock back a claim on anything it could - cooling system, exhaust valves, the PCM when it crumbles from the extra HP rattling the innards, or anything that could vaguely be related.
Even flashing back to stock, the dealer would be able to check flash count and other data to show it was flashed.
I say all that as someone who isn’t averse to a tune but go into it eyes open if you’re under warranty.
Supposedly some people are buying second ECUs to run a tune and then basically put their old one back in to avoid detection but that seems like a lot of faff!

OPCs would 100% be able to detect it as the ECU has a counter, and when it's updated, it increments and its recorded against the unique ID of the ECU. One that's tuned outside of the Porsche Network would be out of step with what's recorded for the ECU at Porsche.
Talk to Lichfields as they had mentioned to me that they have a good relationship with their local OPC however if you're not local it will not help.
I very briefly considered a tuned Base but decided that it would be a very small market for it when I sold it as the majority of buyers want a warranty and ecu tune stops that.
