Hi, we have got 2 tickets for tomorrow at Silverstone. Coming from London, I am looking at 2 travel options. We are not near any mainline station so looking at driving to somewhere and coach/shuttle.

1. Drive to Oxford parkway and then take a coach. Not sure if parking will be full at parkway

2. Drive to Turweston and then park and ride. Google seems Split on this with some saying queues for bus and road to park & Ride is horrendous and others saying its smooth

Any suggestions please?

Thanks

Others may have a different opinion but I'd suggest your best option is to drive to a station close to London and take a train that will get you to either Northampton or Milton Keynes and take a shuttle bus. If you drive to those stations or other park and ride destinations, without booking a car parking slot, you may find it difficult to get parked unless you arrive at stupid o'clock in the morning.

I'm heading up tomorrow as well and went for parking at the circuit - pricey at £120 but less so when you factor in train tickets and if there's a couple of you going to share the cost, not that painful!

Either way - enjoy!

Thanks for your reply. Park and ride included parking so it's not an issue.

I am tempted to take train but it's nearly an hour from our place to Euston or another mainline station so was looking at alternatives.

You don't say where you are coming from, but you could drive to Watford Junction or Hemel and get a train to Northampton. Both station car parks will be 80% empty on a Friday.

If I were you, I'd take the motorbike. Free parking and you can just breeze past all the lines of traffic.

Is P&R still available? Won't be bad on Friday. Aim to be there at 8am and you shouldn't hit any traffic

Just in case anyone is interested.

Booked Turweston park and ride. Left London around 7.30, got to Turweston 9ish. No queue for buses. Took abt 50 mins to get to circuit due to traffic.

On way back, queues were not bad. Abt 20 mins to get on bus and then much quicker back to park and ride abt 30 mins.

If I go again, I would choose coach from a rail station as suggested earlier. The road to the park and ride is via narrow country lanes and the field where we parked had nearly knee high grass so if it was raining, it would be a bit of a nightmare.
