I've purchased an approved used SVR F-pace (amazing car!) this afternoon... and it got a steady engine management light this evening.
Emailed the dealer straight away.

Is this a normal / frequent thing on these engines?
Very disappointing.

I can't give you a definite answer in the F-Pace but I have a couple of F-Type SVRs, so basically the same engine, they have a habit of burning out their lambda sensors, it seems to be a price of the exhaust note

Just unlucky given it's a recent acquisition. More than likely an 02 sensor or coil pack.

Yep, I had a similar experience with O2 sensors. They both went within 2 weeks of each other, first one within 30 minutes of purchase. Replaced FOC 3 years ago. No problems since.

If there’s any sign of a misfire don’t drive it. Mine did it twice, the first time was just a O2 sensor, replaced relatively easily and cheaply. The second time an injector packed in (resulting in the misfire) putting an engine light on. Apparently they fail open and just dump fuel into the cylinder with expensive results!

Thanks all.
It's my first time with JLR products and I'm now worried to take this car to Europe for a 2 week trip soon - even though the Jag assistance / warranty are in place.

If they find it is an O2 sensor get them to replace both. Save you worry about the other one going. That’s assuming that is the problem. They should come out fairly quickly.

Sorry there are 6, 3 on each exhaust bank. The reason they fail is excessive heat and apparently there are 2 that are prone. I hope that clarifies.

Was oxygen sensor indeed.

The JLR rep I've purchased the car from couldn't be bothered to try sort this out for me, so I've ended up contacting dealerships nearby to try and arrange a service appointment and have the oxygen sensor replaced.
The fault occurred on the same day of purchase.

Same as me. What about your warranty? It can be fixed af home in 30 minutes. You shouldn’t be doing the legwork, have you rung the warranty number?

as mentioned it will be one of the sensors - there's one that gets warm that can pop. It's very easy to sort, a specialist can do it pretty cheaply too.

I only had one go in 6 years worth of SVR/P575 motoring (and that was all that went wrong).

I'm now booked in a JLR garage to have this sorted.

On a side node: F-Pace SVR is something else!!! I've ditched a pristine condition 1 owner fully loaded Macan Turbo in favour of the SVR, it's amazing with the light coloured interior.

I've had it before when you've plugged the code reader in it tells you there is a problem with catalytic convertor bank 1, again it;s not the cat, it's the o2 sensor misreading the effect of the cat

I've never had one i've replaced re go, has anyone? I wonder if it's a case of replacing all the originals or a case of almost making them a service item, to be replaced after so many years

I'm glad you're enjoying the car, never drive the f-pace but the more I drive the f-type the more I discover how much of a weapon they are

Cracking cars - had mine for 7 years and just back from 1500 mile trip across France in 39 degree heat. Super reliable and super fun. Car now has 50k miles on the clock and looking forward to the next 50k.
I did have an O2 sensor go on my F-Type but not on the F-Pace (so fingers crossed)

Planning to do the long France trip too next month! A very reassuring post, thanks.
