Wheel arch stone protection - options?
Discussion
Just about to purchase a G23 4 series cabriolet and have been looking at protection options.
I'm going to have it ceramic coated at a local specialist, not by the BMW dealer, and include wheels, glass, and interior protection.
But I've noticed on any recent car the susceptibility of wheel arches to thrown up stones. Don't you just wince when going along a road where they've chosen to chuck a load of grit onto the surface and even the required 20mph sees your pride and joy rattling with machine gun fire as your arches are peppered with this.
I don't like mudflaps, but I see there are the barely noticeable aftermarket mini arch protectors which look OK-ish, although those in carbon effect look tacky imo.
So, what else could I do? I know many cars have a PPF 'patch' on the bodywork just behind the wheel arch but my consern is more the inner edge of the arch where it is face on to the tyre as this must be the most vulnerable, albeit narrow, edge for stone chips to occur.
Any suggestions?
