599... what to do??

Hi all,

2 weeks into 599 ownership. Very happy so far.
Would love to connect with anyone who has a 599 who has upgraded the exhaust.... and equally so, anyone with experience of manual conversions? Very keen to hear recommendations or accounts of either.

I actually like the F1 when it's properly working

I'd also join FerrariChat, the online community is quite active there.

For exhaust.
Cheapest and best mod is to remove the main cats (everyone calls them the secondary cats). Lots of options here, they're basically all the same.

Get the car mapped after, I saw a good increase in the mid range, not much top end but much better drivability.

For sound, I think the best sounding are 6-1 headers from https://www.fiammenghiitalia.com/en/

I chose Kilne for heat management, 6-2-1 long headers

Some simple suspension work, renew the bushings and get the geometry changed will make a huge difference.

Though my spending is easily justified by man maths. Not so sure about the government.

Another what to do, tyre choice, rims, spacers.

Conti SC7 are a bargain, MPS 4s (my choice for British winter tyres) but I'm going to change.

Front tyre width is narrow for the weight and power of the car. 10 - 20 mm spacers all round look good.

HGTE suspension upgrade was a big improvement for me but some don't like the more sporty ride. You can just lower on the standard suspension as they're adjustable or change springs, ARB and suspension module.

Would recommend these. I had these fitted to my 599.

Would also recommend not doing the conversion - I did it to mine, with all genuine parts and a softer version of the GTO map from SBR/Trev. To be honest, it drives better on F1. I wouldn't do it again, that said I did very well from it when I sold it on. If you go the manual route, happy to talk things through if you drop me a line. Can send a bunch of pics and info.

Craving another one now. Or yet another manual 456 for my sins.

I think what these guys are doing is spot on. Drive yours stock and enjoy and then consider some mods these guys have done. The wheels, suspension and exhaust would be on my list. I would keep the F1 gearbox.
