Looking for recommendation for car hire - Nice Airport

Need to hire a smallish car for 2 weeks in Aug. The big nationals are pricing high, so looking for a recommendation for a decent smaller company that wont fleece me

Have you tried one of the large hire companies in Nice rather than at the airport

Think you can easily get to nice centre by public transport

I’m also looking at Nice in August, for a week.

The prices appear cheapest at the airport, they are quite expensive but South of France in August is busiest time so will struggle to get reasonable price. It’s coming out around €350 for a week.

I always do this early & use one of the "comparison sites" such as enjoy/auto europe/kayak etc and sign up for each ones offers by email, make sure you ONLY use "free cancellation" offers.

For example this year I did it in January & was charged £350, by the time we went away at the end of June it was £112 for the same 2 weeks with the same supplier.

Yes, sometimes the "deals" come thick & fast but do each one that is a saving and the price keeps coming down, once this time I redid it 3 times in 1 week, but each time it gets less.

If you are staying in Nice I wouldn't get a car. The traffic/parking is a nightmare. The tram system is excellent and goes into the airport and out to Port Lympia. If you want one for exploring further afield then fair enough!
