BBC don't seem to mention the sort of weird eco fascism he was into.

I don't know the specifics you're referring to in this case, but absolutely not.

Eco-fascism is a very real thing with a long history (and, for the record, it's not the same thing as "the government is requiring me to recycle, use CFL bulbs and have catalytic converters on cars" cries of 'fascism' that we get ).

Arguably it's older than the 'beard wierdy' sort of environmentalism. A lot of the 19th century conservationists were also virulent racists and eugenicists, believing variously that there were too many people in the world, that therefore the 'lesser races had to be purged and that (surprise surprise!) it was the whitest white people who deserved to inherit the Earth.

The Nazis had their 'volkisch' ideology which tied the German people to German land and German nature, and romanticised a simple agrarian lifestyle and was rhetorically hostile to urbanism and modernity. They had a bunch of fruitloop ideas about how ancient Germany was a 'pure' and 'natural' environment, and had programmes to recreate and reintroduce extinct fauna that once lived there.

Then you have your Malthusians and your "climate change is an existential threat which must be met with extreme urgency and all resources ..but only because it will cause brown people to migrate to our lands." types.
