Leather straps in this hot weather
Discussion
Are you wearing your leather strap watches in this bright and warm weather?
My cheap daily/jobs watch was on a green vintage style leather strap and was really comfortable. It was Mrs Llamas favourite watch of my few watches as the green strap matched details of the watch.
The strap went, well a bit, S hitty and smelly whilst mucking out, cycling, washing cars etc.
I have put the watch on a black rubber strap and all good again ostensibly.
However the watch looks as cheap as it is, Mrs Llama correctly doesn't like it anymore but the biggest problem...
Half of my watches have leather straps and I am just not wearing them as I don't want to ruin the straps and have to replace them.

But my casio is on a leather strap
I do wear my leather straps in hot weather but do tend to take them off if im going to be doing anything that will get them sweaty and gross or extremely wet
I have also been thinking about some rubber straps or bracelets to replace some of my current box

Weirdly I find bracelets too constrictive in hot weather (even my Pelagos which has a clever expanding spring). Swapping out bracelets to leather gives me adjustability and lightweight comfort in this crazy summer, especially when you sleep at night. The only exception is a retro-style "ladder" bracelet on a revival Zenith which seems super comfortable in the heat.
I use good quality leather straps and maybe that's why they feel so comfortable (or maybe it's post-purchase rationalisation)? E.g. Horween Chromexcel or full-grain Italian vegetable-tanned leather. I like that they patinate over time so the sweat and wear and tear doesn't bother me.
