Just bought a PS5 Pro and ACBF Resented as my first Pro enhanced game .

Looks lovely on my OLED TV. It's my first AC game so I'm still getting used to the controls. Torn between following the mission or exploring the map.

There is an option to climb up to the top of buildings and 'resync view'. What does this achieve, does it just help you orientate yourself within the map?

If its the same as the older games it unlocks the map so you can see where things are... the climbing and resyncing.

Enjoy

You've picked probably the best AC game to start on, IMO. Stick with it, it gets really good the further you get into it! Its a bit dated now compared to the latest AC games though. And yes, syncing opens up the map and highlights new points of interest.

basically a new game

The remake, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, was a massive undertaking. It required rebuilding the 2013 original from the ground up on a completely different engine (the same engine used for Assassin's Creed Shadows), shifting the workload across 15 different Ubisoft studios. The remake is not just a visual remaster; it represents a complete overhaul of the core game. This required significant development effort in several areas:Engine Transition & Assets: It required recreating the sprawling Caribbean map by replacing all textures, pathing, object placements, and level design.Seamless World: Developers eliminated the loading screens that used to trigger when entering large cities like Havana.Gameplay & Combat: The team completely revamped the combat system for greater depth.Stealth and Parkour: The game now features a new directional parkour system, wall ejects, and free crouching. The "instant fail" tailing and eavesdropping missions were completely removed and replaced with dynamic target reactions.Exploration: The naval combat was expanded with new firepower and boarding mechanics, and players can now jump directly off their ship to explore shipwrecks and caves without the original's diving bell restrictions.Narrative Revisions: The modern-day sci-fi sequences were completely stripped away, and the game introduces an entirely new end-game sequence titled "A World Without Gold".

Oh wow. Thats impressive, I assumed it was just a graphics update. I'm in, in that case!

You'll be better off paying £15 to sub to Ubisoft Plus - you get the Deluxe addition with DLC, and it'll be easily finishable within a month. Any time left can be used to play some other stuff as well, like Star Wars Outlaws.
