Speedster rear end on Boxster..
Discussion
iguana said: I'm pretty sure its a dual hump thing to go behind the seats & over the hood ie look at the pics in the 964 speedster article, only obiously the Box one is shorter being a 2 seater & all that. Ive seen a few on Boxtsters and I think it looks bloody awful but all IMHO of course.
Yep. Not the sort of thing I'd bother with that's for sure. But takes all kinds etc etc

I saw the one on the Motorshow stand too, and asked a salesman about it - the roof can't be operated at all with the humps on. They need to be removed before the top can come back up - and they don't stow away anywhere in the car. Bloody impractical in the UK.

I actually think that looks quite good, but if the roof doesn't work then it is bloody stupid!!!
How much is a juicy exhaust for a Boxster?

Yep. Pointless. How many days a year could you actually fit the thing? Of course..in California...the market its aimed at..no problem.
Hughjayteens if you like that car then you had better not look at the current issue of 911 & Porsche World then. As the hideous Californian Boxster featured sounds right up your street.
The dozy twonk calls it a Boxster GT3 RS yet he uses the old 3.4 996 engine which is very very different to a GT3 lump and has about 20 tons of ICE kit in the car. It is a bleeding horrible creation almost as tasteless as some of the German tuners products.

That was chuckworthy, wasn't it? Max Power Porsche.

Lots around from the £500 mark for just a rear silencer upt to over £1000 if you want sport cats etc.
My favorite has electronically switchable silencing that either allows normal 'ish' silencing untill something like 4000rpm then is stright thro and has the option for you to run it open when ever you want. So thro London village you can howl along like a race car, but on a nice long cruise when the drone would drive you mad you can make it almost standard, which would also be goos for noise sensitive track days. Its around £1000-£1500 if my memory serves me correctly

Glad you subscibe to the 'eye of the beholder' point of view Ig

I also quite like the BMW M Coupe which many people denounce as the devils concubine on wheels but that doesn't mean I will like a Max'd yank Boxster!!! [sneaks off for a look hoping it revolts me]
ahhh mr hughjay but I remember you posting a pic of some horrible 996 Gemballa creation ( if I can work out how to post it here I'll do it later)and saying it was gorgeous, so I think its a fair bet to say you will like the maxed Boxster. Im not slagging you at all mate just that I think you have odd tastes
ps nowt wrong with the Z-M3 roadster it looks hard as nails.

Chris
I dont have the company brochure on me but i thought it was a 996 & Boxster only thang. Mind you certain jap cars have been doing it for years.

It is all becoming clearer now - I wondered why people looked at my 3 eyed girlfriend oddly!!!
I suspect at least with the Gemballa that the rear 'wing' had some vague purpose in trying to keep all 750BHP in contact with the road!!!
That Speedster rear end is clearly for tarts, but as you pointed out at the last meet that I look like I should work in media, perhaps it would be fitting!!

I just can't seem to shake off my bad boy roots!!!!

Great looking M coupe.....last year I knew of a similar looking car with a turbo on it putting out over 400bhp.and 19" wheels to accomodate the biggest discs I have seen on a roadcar...I saw it at my friends body shop where it was often in for minor cosmetic repair to the body kit which although looking great was unsuitable for UK roads...what the hell when it looks so good ..
