Chipped radiator grille

Two days ago a thoughtless ahole in a white van overtook me on a newly-resurfaced road and showered my car with stone chips.

The worst is on the grille, which is aluminium with what feels like a plastic coating. It's about 4mm long and if left untouched will I think let corrosion in:



What's the best way to repair this please so it doesn't get any worse? A dab of silver paint perhaps?

So if its Aluminium its not going to rust, but understandably you want to stop the oxidation.

Its virtually impossible to repair and replicate the plastic/wrap chrome effect thats on a lot of trim.

You want something to stop the oxidation and Epoxy primer is best for that, maybe spray a little into the rattle can lid then brush it on, that should protect it.

You could then try a dab of silver paint, it looks quite a matte finish? I've had reasonable results with chrome effect marker pens to hide broken trim in the past, you can get them off Amazon etc.

Thanks Dave. It looks like a satin finish.

I was out shopping today and saw a small tin of Revell 'aluminium silver' in a shop so thought I'd try it. It will take a few applications but with luck will look pretty close, certainly better than the current chip.
