I’m seriously considering buying a G80 BMW M3 and would appreciate some honest advice from current and previous owners.

I’m looking for something that feels special and genuinely quick, but that can also be used regularly for commuting, longer journeys and the occasional weekend drive. I’m currently deciding between the standard rear-wheel-drive model and the M3 Competition xDrive.

How does the G80 M3 feel to live with day to day? Is the ride comfortable enough on UK roads, and does the car feel too large or heavy when driving through towns and on tighter roads?

I’d also be interested to know about real-world fuel economy, servicing costs, tyre wear, insurance and any reliability issues owners have experienced. Are there any important options worth having, such as the carbon bucket seats, adaptive cruise control, parking assistance or upgraded sound system?

Would you recommend buying from a BMW main dealer, an independent specialist or privately? Are there any particular model years, specifications or warning signs I should look out for?

Finally, for anyone who considered an F80 M3, M340i or another performance car before buying the G80, do you feel you made the right decision?
